CPRT Parenting Skills Group

FAQs

  • The cost is $50 paid per week or $450 paid in advance.

  • This group will meet for 2 hours each week. Your attendance of all 10 weeks is of course ideal, but if you need to miss a session due to illness or a planned vacation, that would be acceptable. Please just give as much notice as possible so arrangements can be made to catch you up on missed learning.

You will still be responsible for that week’s payment as your spot will be held for you and only you.

  • CPRT skills are still useful for older children, but there may be modifications to the standard curriculum that need to be made. If you would still like to participate, fill out the form and Loren will call you to discuss it further.

Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT), is an evidence-based practice for parents wanting to improve their connection with their child. CPRT is best suited for children ages 2.5-10 years old. Parents learn how to respond empathically to their child’s feelings, build their child’s self-esteem, help their child learn self-control and self-responsibility, and set therapeutic limits through their child’s play. Loren Riedel, LPC will host this in-person group for parents for 10 weekly meetings.

In 10 weeks, you will learn skills and strategies to help you:

  • Understand your child’s emotional needs

  • Develop your child’s self-control and self-esteem

  • Effectively discipline & limit inappropriate behavior

  • Communicate more effectively with your child

  • Feel more in control as a parent

In 10 weeks, parents report seeing improvement in:

  • Child’s behavior problems

  • Stress in the parent-child relationship

  • Parent-child communication

  • Confidence in parenting skills

From past participants:

“Loren is REALLY good at her job. She listened and did not judge me for the inevitable mistakes I made during the learning process.”

“Every parent should be equipped with what we learned in our CPRT sessions.”

“It was truly a judgement-free zone.”
